Road toll up but is drink driving down?
The Easter five day weekend added another 20 traffic fatalities to this years road toll but are people getting better at responisble driving though? NSW saw a massive decline in drink drivers with less than half the ammount of people caught this holiday period compared to last. However, other states had record numbers with Queensland registering 79 positive tests in the first 24-hours of Operation Crossroads: a nation wide campaign to reduce road tolls.
Victoria police caught over 450 drunk drivers registering higher than the legal limit over the 5 day period, over 600 drivers using mobile phones and 479 unlicenced drivers all adding to a wopping 12,000 traffic offences in the one state alone. With almost 200,000 breath tests being administered a .25% average doesn't seem too bad but it does mean more than 1500 average family members are not affected by the news of the loss of a loved one (average family size being 3.5).
The debate continues every time there is a road death reported and people are throwing up arguments for all sides. "more police presence", "revenue raising", "idiot drivers", "driver training", some offer sympathy "my heart goes out to..." while some comments getting as disheartening as, "If they're drunk and die in an accident at least they're off the road." Are we finally getting to breaking point or is this something we will continue to allow?
Queenslands State Traffic Support Branch Acting Superintendent, Craig Hanlon said "These people know they are well and truly under the influence and they do it anyway." For most people, we should be well aware when we're impaired to drive. However, there are obviously some people who haven't quite figured it out just yet. "Know your limit" is the key slogan of one of Australia's leading breath alcohol detection suppliers (breathalysers), Andatech and the message seems to need repeating.
There are highly accurate breathalysers available to anyone who wants to buy one for as little as $200; less than half the cost of a PCA fine and hardly as inconvenient as a suspension or loss of licence. Consider a fuel cell sensor breathalyser calibrated to Australian Standards. Know what you'll blow and if it's over .05 don't drive!

Or is it OK because "other people get drunk" and commit manslaughter?
Because it is Bush’s fault?
Because Arizona is bad?
Because there are less border crossings?
Because the nun is not protected under the constitution from “accidental Death”?
Because Drunk Driving is not a federal law?
Because saying this is a GOP political agenda?

BTW: Why didn’t any of the major news providers pick up on this but the Washington Post and Fox News?
I really don't know the answer to the first question.
But to the second one,its because Fox News is probably the only news source that isn't completely biased to one side..half the time they're the only station to cover news,I mean..look at RUSSIA they covered the Black Panther party(I think it was Russia anyways,correct me if I'm wrong)when the guy called Fox 'Racist' when they said they needed to lock up the dude threatening to kill 'cracker babies and their mommas'.
Again,if I'm wrong,someone correct me please with the correct answer.
Edit: Why use a ak-47 when a m-16 would do the job? les ammunition used anyways.
