Repeat DUI offender arrested soon after working quit warning

CHICO, California - A guy on probation for preceding DUI allegations was arrested on Tuesday for driving drunk and crashing into a large rig north of Chico.

Richard A. Halvorson, 35, was heading east on Anita Road all around midday on Tuesday when he supposedly ran a quit indication at Hamilton Nord Cana Highway and hit a trailer that was getting hauled by a truck on the intersection.

Halvorson was driving a Saturn, which received wedged under the trailer and dragged. The trailer came off of the truck and overturned. Halvorson then fled from the scene.

Halvorson was previously convicted of DUI in 2006 over a crash that led to a particular person currently being hurt and endangered the lifestyle of a child.

Witnesses report him working with out a shirt on Anita Highway and was chased by another witness in their car.

When the police arrived, Halvorson was questioned and offered a subject sobriety check which he reportedly failed. He was then taken into custody.
