My Step-Dad's 3rd DUI what will happen?

My Step Dad was driving a truck in my Mothers name while drunk and hit a brand new parked car nobody was injured. He is in jail but my Mother is worried she will lose all she owns because he is not insured he is exempt from her insurance. He shouldn't have been driving not only because he was drunk but he doesn't have a license.

What will happen?

This is his 3rd offense in Michigan by the way.

Should my Mother be worried they will take all of her assets?

What should she do next? Get a Lawyer?
*Should my Mother contact her insurance company and notify them of what happened?
And also I found out just now the truck is in my Step Dad's name but it's insured in my Mothers name.

The third DUI offense in Michigan turns into a felony. Here is a law article that explains felony DUI: http://www.cowanlawfirm.com/articles/felony-dui/ As far as your mom goes, I don't think that she can be held liable for his fines, etc. The thing she would need to worry about would be if the car was totaled. But, again, I don't think she can be punished for his felony offense.
