how long does a dui stay on your record in california?

i got a dui back in 1996 but i never took any dui classes. is this thing supossed to go away in 7-10 years or will it stay on my record until i complete the program?

DUI used to be priorable for 7 years, so you will still see people answering that. However, that has been extended to 10 years (which you are also beyond). That is, however, just the period for which it can be used as a prior conviction to increase punishment. It will be on your record forever. You can get what California calls an "expungement," but even that does not clear your record (it shows as a conviction and a dismissal), and it can still be used as a prior. (Penal Code section 1203.4.)

By the way, if these were classes you had to take as a condition of probation, then it is likely that you are in violation of probation, which also will never go away until you take care of it.

Texting and Driving Statistics

Texting and driving statistics are becoming more readily available, which I believe is important considering the number of fatalities that happen as a result of texting and driving.

With the cellphone technology growing at an alarming rate, cellphone users also grow every year. With this new technology comes a lot of risks that we are now faced with, the statistics that I am about to reveal are not pretty, they are actually quite scary.

Did you know that a person who is driving and texting is more likely to cause an accident than a person who is drunk? It is a scary thing to think of it like that because alcohol can pretty much make you unable to drive.

With the growing popularity with social network sites such as twitter and facebook, people have a need to be constantly in tune with what is going on in their world. And it is not just the social network sites, it is the constant contact with family, friends, boyfriends and girlfriends.

Here are some statistics to keep in mind the next time you are behind the wheel and you think of texting:

  • When a driver is busy on his phone while he is driving, the time he takes to react when the need arises is increased by a whopping 35%.
  • When busy constructing a text, the steering capability of the driver is lessened by a staggering 91%, because he is not focused on the road properly.
  • Texting increases the chance of being involved in an accident by at least 23%.

If that does not scare you, I don't know what will. Think of the families that have lost a loved one because someone could not wait for 5 minutes to get to their destination so that they could send their text safely.

Saving your license from a DUI penalty

Driving under the influence (DUI) is an offense common to all states of America. It is considered a traffic crime or a felony under some circumstances. Being charged or accused for a DUI may mean to taint a person's criminal record, longer hours of community service, huge costs of fines, restriction or suspension of driver's license, immobilization or impoundments of vehicle, possible increased insurance premiums and weeks, months or years in prison. The mentioned DUI penalties can be given to any person whenever his or her breath, blood or urine tests have recorded a significant amount or level of alcohol.

Prior to conviction, any suspected offender should undergo a series of Field Sobriety Tests to prove whether he or she should be charge for a DUI. Usually these series of tests includes breath, blood and urine tests. These three are common examinations used to detect the BAC or the Blood Alcohol Content of a person. However, refusal to undergo such tests may result to license confiscation of one year term.

Here in Florida, the traffic law clearly states that any person caught driving a motor vehicle with 0.20 BAC is sanctioned to any DUI offense and DUI penalty. This is for the reason that at 0.20% BAC a driver is already assumed incapable of doing two major things: steering and braking a car. At this BAC rate, the alcohol has reached a person's blood vessels and has already been transmitted to his or her brain. Thus, affecting the nerves as well as other human reflexes to function normally. Hence, it can result to a 'abnormal' driving.

In fact, studies shows that alcohol-related vehicular accidents causes a person's life every 32 minutes. In the same manner, alcohol-related incidents can cause injury to any individual in just a span of 2 minutes. Statistics have recorded that DUI offenders were able to kill lives of more than a million innocent lives  last year following a DUI accident. And, among the 50 states of America, Florida turned out to have the most number of DUI arrests. Because of this, more officials from this state have been on their best to formulate ways to widen and make harsh consequences for existing DUI penalties.

$250 immediate DUI penalty is incurred to a first-time offender. Depending on the frequency of the offense, such monetary sanction may go up to $500 or even to $1000. These fines can be very hefty if the offender's blood sample was found an alcohol level of 0.20% or higher. A DUI penalty can start to increase at $1000 or more.

With this, police officials and traffic authorities warns and advices every citizen to think several times before doing anything stupid like driving while intoxicated. Nevertheless, pay and face the consequences of your misdemeanor at your local traffic court.

The Most Hunted Animal in North America

The white tailed deer are the most hunted animal in North America. There are currently over twenty to twenty five million estimated deer in North America alone, and the species can be found in three areas. There are currently 38 species of the deer found in North, South, and Central America. These illusive animals have been targets of the best hunters for many generations. However, lately the sport has grown by leaps and bounds.

There are now organized hunts with prizes ranging into the thousands. Trophy deer hunting is now a sport rather than a survival tool. The hunters in today's age rarely hunt for meat or food, but mostly for sport. The product line for this sport has much to offer. From guns to clothing and accessories, you can spend thousands and never have everything. Hunting techniques are also as varied as the hunters themselves.

Many hunters prefer to hunt from a stand, but some do still like the thrill of the foot chase. When it comes to stands, there are many types. Hunters can choose from a permanent stand, a hanging stand, or even a blind to hide in on the ground. Trophy deer hunting can be done using many methods. Some hunters will set up cameras in an area to see where the deer tend to roam. Then they will put out feed to keep the deer coming back.

Some hunters will hire a guide or outfitter service. A guide is someone who knows an area well and can show the places that the deer frequent. However, an outfitter company will provide everything you need, such as clothing and guns, then they will escort you on the hunt. Either service can be beneficial when trophy deer hunting. These services work with the most experienced hunters and even beginners with no experience.

There are also many trophy deer hunting seasons. Every year, a youth season will kick off the trophy deer hunting fun. Included will be a black powder and a rifle season. The next trophy deer hunting season is adult black powder. This season can be a lot of fun for the hunter who prefers to use old time guns and methods. Next comes the regular hunting season for adults. Each state will have its own dates and limitations. Usually the season is set based on the number of deer in an area. There will also be limits on how many bucks and does can be killed per hunter. Some states with a higher population of deer may allow for more deer or have two seasons.

The game and fish commission now regulates all hunting activities. They will require that you purchase a permit or license for trophy deer hunting. You will also have to buy a tag, and check in each deer you kill. These rules are put in place to track the numbers of deer being killed and to help maintain the population. They do not want the deer population to grow out of control, but at the same time must protect the species against any threat of extinction.
