Perfumes, The Perfumer And The Fixation Process

Fixation is one of the biggest challenges that the perfume making industry faces.
It is also one of the most important factors that stand between the success and failure of a perfume composition.

In perfumery, fixation is a process that promotes the retention of the fragrance on the wearer for as long as possible.
Fixatives are the non-volatile substances used to slow down the evaporation rate of the volatile components of a fragrance. They help perfume makers to perfect their blends to the highest level and are indispensable tools of trade within the perfume industry.

Getting the fixation process right is very important.
This is especially so because most perfume buyers are not looking to buy scents that do not last.
I don't know anyone who wants to spend their hard earned cash on perfumes that are so fleeting that their fragrance has disappeared within the first hour after application.

The raw materials used for fixation in perfumes can be of natural or synthetic nature. Scented or unscented, with nature identical, nature similar or non nature like characters. Ultimately, their purpose is that they are non-volatile enough to help that perfume blend develop and retain its full intensity for long periods.

Most professional perfumers prefer to use synthetic or man made fixative agents in their blends. These types of fixation methods have more products available that can be used to effectively fix a perfume without significantly altering its original scent prior to the fixatives being added.

If you're going the natural route, fixative materials like Patchouli, Vetiver, Labdanum and others have great fixation ability. However, their odor can easily dominate your entire blend or drastically alter it if they are not carefully handled.

Thankfully, there are extensive fixatives available that can be used in a blend to extend the evaporation rate of each of the different notes in a perfume.
What’s more, you can use different fixing agents for different parts of your blend. For instance, you might choose to only fix the top and middle notes in your composition if the base note already has enough lasting power.

Surprisingly, extreme fixation in a perfume is no guarantee of good scent retention. As a matter of fact, excessive fixing can result in the fixative agents inhibiting each other, thereby hindering fragrance diffusion and making the odor of the perfume impossible to smell in the air around its wearer.

On the whole, when the composition process of a perfume is well thought out and its blending balanced, it shouldn't require too much fixing.

Hollywood Screenwriter Charged in Los Angeles Car Accident

A celebrated Hollywood screenwriter is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, as well as two additional charges of causing bodily injury while intoxicated, in a drunk driving accident that killed his friend and injured his wife.

Roger Avary, the screenwriter behind such hits as Pulp Fiction and last year’s Beowulf, was present at the hearing where the charges were formally filed. On January 13th of this year, Avary with his wife, and friend Andreas Zini were in his Mercedes sedan. Zini and his wife Maria were in Los Angeles to visit their friends. Maria was following in another car. At some point, Avary missed a curve and crashed into a telephone pole. Zini was killed at the scene of the car accident, while Avary’s wife Gretchen was ejected from the car. She suffered severe injuries, but survived the car crash.

Police who arrived at the scene of the accident found that Avary’s blood alcohol content was above the legally permissible limit. He has now been charged with felony manslaughter and two counts of felony causing bodily injury while drunk. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Despite all the progress that we’ve made with drunk driving in our state, we continue to see more car accidents related to alcohol than we should. Law enforcement agencies have done a great job with the kind of awareness programs that they have going, promoting the “don’t drink and drive” message among teens, and enforcing stricter controls at checkpoints. All these efforts have made California’s streets safer to some extent. But when people like Avary who really should know better, continue to flout the law and act as if the rules don’t apply to them, it seems as if there’s a lot of work to do.

Alcohol and drug use can impair your judgment while driving, and can slow down your response times, both deadly mistakes that can cost you your life. Although we normally consider drunk driving to be about drugs and alcohol, it can also be taken to mean driving under the influence of prescription drugs, and even over-the-counter drugs like cough medicine, anti-allergy medications, etc. Many drugs have the potential to leave you feeling drowsy, and some formulations that do have this side effect mention these on the label. Whether drugs, alcohol, or prescription or over-the-counter medication, driving without being 100 percent in control of your faculties can have devastating consequences.

When a person has been injured, or has lost a loved one as result of an auto accident where the other motorist was clearly under the influence of alcohol or drugs, he or she has the right to bring a civil claim against the offending driver. In such cases, damages can be claimed for the medical bills incurred, as well as future medical bills, pain and suffering that the victim has undergone. In the case of a death resulting from an alcohol-related car accident, it’s possible for family members to claim damages in a wrongful death lawsuit. A California car accident lawyer will be able to help you build your case.

Dui And Constitutional Rights

“We are a nation of laws, more specifically, the common law inherited from the British legal system.  Unlike most nations, which use some version of the French civil law where laws are found in codes, we look to the precedent of judicial decisions interpreting statutory law.”  The importance of precedent in our legal system cannot be overstated.  Constitutional rights are being lost, not through the quick actions of political or military decisions, but through the slow erosion of precedent in our court systems.  Drivers who are charged with “driving under the influence” or DUIs are most susceptible to this loss of rights.  Add to this picture politically charged groups such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) which began as a mother grief stricken over the loss of her thirteen year old daughter and today is a major political voice with revenues of over 47 million annually.

Drunk driving is a politically incorrect topic.  People are unanimously opposed to it both morally and socially.  Nearly every religion in the world has ordinances and warning against intoxication and drunkenness.  The fact remains, drunk drivers are a danger to themselves and others, causing a huge number of fatal accidents.  However, the inherent wrongness of drunk driving does not mean we should allow the erosion of constitutional rights.  On the contrary it is even more important for justice’s sake that a guilty citizen has the rights outlined in our Constitution.

The deterioration of rights began in 1990 when the Supreme Court found in Michigan v. Sitz. that sobriety checkpoints, although clearly a violation of the Fourth Amendment, were permissible because, as Judge Rehnquist stated, “No one can seriously dispute the magnitude of the drunken driving problem or the States’ interest in eradicating it.”  Dissenting Justice Clarence Thomas countered, “I rather doubt that the Framers of the Fourth Amendment would have considered "reasonable" a program of indiscriminate stops of individuals not suspected of wrongdoing.”

Further infringing on citizen’s rights, South Dakota v. Neville. found that refusing to submit to a breathalyzer was illegal, although the Fifth Amendment gives citizens the right against self-incrimination.  Finally the Sixth Amendment’s right to a jury trial was lost next in Blanton v. North Las Vegas.  As attorney Lawrence Taylor paraphrased on his blog, “First they came for the drunks, but I was not a drunk so I did not speak up…..”

Safeguards Against Dui Criminal Cases

All of us must be aware of the toll of causalities and arrests happening in their cities in US, the country with maximum automobiles on road. Countless road mishaps coverage is available in newspapers, magazines and Internet. The number of articles, news on legal announcement, law amendments for various DUI (Driving under Influence) cases is plenty over there. Still there is a growing trend of such criminal cases and busy court proceedings for recovery.

There are DUI case studies of many celebrities and top personalities available also. Some of the head lines on major DUI lawsuits are as follows:

  • Spoiled Heiress Paris Hilton Reports to Jail,

  • Mike Tyson Arrested on Cocaine Charge,
  • Celebrity Apprentice' Boardroom Shocker: Khloe Kardashian Fired ...,
  • Michael Waltrip Rolls Car, Faces Charges,
  • Busted Batman Fights Arrest,
  • Deanna's Story,
  • No Question Henri Paul Was Drunk

Generally people are well aware of those events but hardly analyze the fatal consequences. They tend to avoid gathering information on penalties for drunk driving, DUI Laws, difference between DUI and DWI,DUI consequences, Assessment of DUI cases, justice system and most importantly hiring an efficient DUI lawyer. Everyday drivers get arrested either for driving under influence of alcohol, drugs or being intoxicated. These are not the first incidence of DUI cases with them. For such drunk drivers it is mandatory to keep abreast with possible legal fate.

  • There is a particular legal drinking age which is 21 years.
  • Two-thirds of the United States has approved Administrative License Revocation (ALR) laws that permit the arresting officer to take the license of drivers who fail or refuse to take a breath test.
  • Legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit has dropped from .10 to .08 percent for adults
  • All States have passed Zero Tolerance laws which forbid drivers less than 21 years age from having any quantifiable amount of alcohol in their blood system.
  • Penalties have been manifold for repeat offenders responsible for reckless drunk driving.
  • The duration of license suspension has prolonged and fines got higher

Possible consequences for repeat offenders:

There is a disciplined yet hard penalties mandated by state law for repeat offenders. In some states, even first offenders may face lengthy license suspensions and a weekend in jail. Most of the States have voted for Habitual Violator laws, which entitle lawbreaking penalties for maximum three DUI assurances. These lawbreakers are deprived of many of their civil rights. They are not allowed to vote or own a weapon. Even their driver license are lost permanently or delayed for long, long years. Even to get the license back offenders have to complete some formalities like attending DUI School for education and assessment program. A professional counselor would conduct the assessment interview.

Assessment process:

To regain the driving permission the counselor generally fix up four A.A. meetings with in which attending 3 sessions are mandatory for the beginners. For repeat offenders 90meetings in 90 days or 28-day residential treatment program, detoxification, or other medical treatment is compulsory. Such DUI conviction is expensive time killing also. Hence emphasizing on drinking, driving pattern and appointing Tennessee Drink Driving Attorney is the prerequisite for hassle free driving experience.
