Some Ways to Avoid Drunk and Distracted Drivers
As an auto accident attorney I've seen the aftermath of a drunk driving accident. I cannot stress enough how important it is that you have a sober driver. I won't lecture any further, but I will say that if you do have a sober driver it is almost as important that they are able to effectively spot and avoid a drunk or distracted driver. Drinking and driving causes thousands of accidents nationwide, and it's important to be aware of other irresponsible drivers, even if you are acting responsibly. If it seems like someone is driving impaired or distracted near you, you need to have time to react to any sudden movements their vehicle may make. There are several signs to watch for. These do not always mean the person is intoxicated but they do indicate that the person is a terrible or erratic driver. Regardless, you should stay clear of vehicles that are:
1)Swerving
2) Driving well under the speed limit, many drunk drivers will go slower so they can concentrate.
3) Stopping for no reason (again this may be a drunk driver being overly cautious)
4) Driving in the middle of the road. Drunk drivers will sometimes use the center line to direct them.
5) Tailgating. Impaired drivers will sometimes follow the car behind them in an attempt to drive straight. This can often lead to the impaired driver tailgating the car in front of them.
6) Incredibly bad driving. There is a good chance the driver is intoxicated if they are driving the wrong way, on the wrong side of the road, without headlights, or off the road completely.
Unfortunately accidents are not always avoidable. It does help however if you aren't at fault. To avoid being at fault it's a good idea to refrain from texting, driving intoxicated, or anything else that could be considered dangerous driving.
Insurance companies are first and foremost concerned with saving themselves as much money as possible. If they can claim that you could have prevented the accident or were in some way at fault (however minimally it may seem) you may have a problem on your hands. Until you've spoken with an experienced auto accident attorney you are probably better off not even speaking with your insurance adjuster. Knowing how to avoid being taken advantage of by your insurance company is important, but your number one priority should be to always be a safe and focused driver.

Burj Dubai The World Tallest Tower Will Open 9 September 2009
Burj Dubai, the world's tallest man-made structure, will see a soft opening on September 9 this year in tandem with the launch of Dubai Metro, according to an industry source.
The target is to have the event coincide with the opening of the Metro on 09/09/09, a person close to the matter told Emirates Business. There is still work to be done in terms of finishing the building, the person said. This includes the access and exit planning as well as connecting the sewerage lines to the main network.
These issues are being addressed to ensure optimum working of the building before final occupancy, the person said.
Despite several attempts, developer Emaar Properties did not comment on the subject by the time this newspaper went to press.
The groundbreaking for Burj Dubai took place in September 2004 and completion was projected by late 2008. In June 2008, Emaar Chairman Mohamed Ali Alabbar said in a statement: We believe that a completion date of September 2009 is possible and reasonable for a project of this global magnitude and significance.
Burj Dubai has risen to its final height of 818 metres, a project contractor told this newspaper in a recent interview. The spire was erected in the third week of December. Since then, a beacon has been installed at the top, usually the final topping-out of a tower.
When completed, Burj Dubai will meet all four criteria listed by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), which classifies the world's tallest structures. CTBUH measures the height of buildings to the structural top, the highest occupied floor, the top of the roof and the tip of the spire, pinnacle, antenna, mast or flagpole.
Contractor Besix said it is working to complete the work on schedule. We signed a new agreement with Emaar Properties last year and they gave us an extension of time to complete the project in 2009, said Didier Bosredon, Deputy Project Director at Besix.
The 154th floor will house the office of the Emaar chairman. The façade is still not finished and work is in progress, he said.
Besix is working jointly with Samsung and Arabtec as the main contractors on Burj Dubai.
The tower will have an observation deck on Level 124, which will offer visitors a bird's-eye view of the city and beyond.
Burj Dubai is part of the $20 billion (Dh73.47bn) Burj Dubai development, which includes a shopping mall, hotels and a variety of residential buildings.
